Kettering's Green Mobility Laboratory

Here is some great information to share with your future electrical engineer!

With the auto industry increasingly focused on electric-based vehicles, Kettering University has positioned itself as one of only a few schools in the country preparing students in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) technology from an electrical engineering perspective.

After receiving grant money in 2010 from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), Kettering has created an HEV Green Mobility Laboratory.

Wage and Benefits Survey

Parents:

By now, you may know that part of your student's educational experience at Kettering University includes a paid co-op experience, designed to allow your son or daughter to put classroom learning to use in a real job setting.  Students typically earn between $40,000 and $65,000 throughout their educational career at Kettering.

Our most recent Co-op Wage and Benefits Survey provides more detail on what Kettering students currently earn.

Think about this: your student will gain REAL job experience in a challenging engineering, science, computer science, mathematics or business field.  The wage that he or she earns is a good salary that can be used to offset tuition and living costs.  Take a look at some of the Kettering University employer partners at:

The Kettering University Advantage!

I am pleased to introduce myself as the new Director of Undergraduate Admissions at Kettering University.  Ever since I first arrived on campus, I have been constantly amazed by the Kettering faculty that I meet...  professors who are not only terrfic teachers and researchers, but who also take tremendous interest in their students. And talk about our students!  As I meet them and listen to their stories, I'm astonished by their personal and professional accomplishments.  Kettering students are thinkers, problem solvers and innovators who are truly excited about their studies and work experiences.

For those of you who are not that familiar with Kettering University, formerly GMI Management & Engineering Institute, the first thing you'll notice upon closer look is that Kettering is very different than most institutions of higher learning.  The hallmark of the Kettering education is the paid co-op experience, required for every student.  This typically begins in the freshman year!  Students work in positions covering a full range of industries that include areas such as automobile, aerospace, banking, metallurgical, and health care.  Students generally earn between $40,000 and $65,000 over the course of their program.  Today there are more than 500 companies employing our students in hundreds of locations around the world.  Biomet, Becton Dickinson, Whirlpool, Spectranetics, and Alcoa are just a few of the powerhouse companies partnering with Kettering.

Kettering offers majors in chemical, computer, electrical, industrial and mechanical engineering, as well as applied mathematics, applied physics, engineering physics, biochemistry, chemistry, business administration, and computer science.  Concentrations and specialties include (but are not limited to) acoustics, applied optics, computer gaming, alternative energy, aerospace engineering, and healthcare system engineering.

Kettering admissions officers are ready and eager to work with high school seniors and transfer students interested in applying for admission.

Contact the Kettering Office of Admissions at (810) 762-7865 for more information or to schedule a campus visit.
